International Coalition Against Enforced Disappearances in Iran

Coalition Definition:

It is an international coalition base in London/ United Kingdom
consisting of number of organizations and lawyers to address the issue of enforced disappearance in Iran.
Board of Directors consists of seven members، Dr. Karim Abdian / General Adviser, Ms. Mona Silawi / president, Mr. Faisal Fulad/ General Coordinator

Coalition Goals:

To protect their rights and defend the victims of enforced disappearance in Iran, in accordance with the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, adopted by the General Assembly in its 133/47 resolution of 18 December / December 1992 as a set of principles applicable to all States.

Enforced disappearance occurs when "persons are arrested, detained or abducted against their will or otherwise deprived of theirliberty by officials of different branches or levels of Government, or byorganized groups or private individuals acting on behalf of, or with the
support, direct or indirect, consent or acquiescence of the Government,
followed by a refusal to disclose the fate or whereabouts of the persons
concerned or a refusal to acknowledge the deprivation of their liberty, which places such persons outside the protection of the law.

The text of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which came into force on July 1, 2002,and the International Convention for the Protection of Persons from Enforced Disappearance, adopted by the General Assembly on November 20, 2006, states that committing any massive and systematic attack directed against any civilian population, and "enforced disappearance", is described as a crime against humanity, and therefore not subject to the statute of limitations. In addition ,it gives the right to the families of the victims in Iran to seek compensation and demand the right to know the truth about the disappearance of their loved ones.

Cooperating with the Rapporteur of the Working Group to discuss issues related to enforced or involuntary disappearances of individuals.

Help families in Iran to determine the fate of their missing relatives and their whereabouts and cooperating with the Working Group as a link to the families of the victims, in order to guarantee Iranian officials investigation of the individual cases which families submit about the disappearance of their family members

Monitoring & documenting cases on intimidations and acts of retaliations and harassments against relatives of the abductees or human rights defenders or advocates and lawyers who work on disappearance cases by the Iranian authorities, and to protect the fundamental rights of the concerned persons.

The International Coalition Monitors the implementation of "1992 Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance" by Iranian authorities.

The coalition conducts direct investigation in individual cases; and takes direct measures to protect people from retaliation; and prosecute those who are responsible in the Iranian authority and bringing them to justice; and conduct exhumation، and grant relief or compensation from iranain government.
